Student life

Brandon is Manitoba's second city, small enough that the university is a visible part of daily life rather than a district within a metropolis.
The music school drives much of the cultural calendar, with faculty concert series and conservatory performances through the year.
Residence with a meal plan is the normal first year route, and the published first year budget assumes it.

Costs and entry

International tuition

About CAD 35,000 for a first year, all inChecked 2026-09-13

Brandon publishes a combined first year figure covering tuition, on campus residence with a meal plan, books and health insurance, based on a full load of 30 credit hours. Tuition alone is lower. A non refundable deposit of CAD 5,000 applies to undergraduate applicants, CAD 2,500 to graduate, and is credited against fees.

Cost of living

About CAD 1,600 a monthChecked 2026-09-13

Derived from Brandon's published CAD 35,000 first year budget once tuition is removed: roughly CAD 13,000 across the eight month academic year for residence with a meal plan, books and health insurance. Brandon is a small prairie city and housing costs sit well below the large Canadian student centres.

Study permit funds

CAD 22,895 a yearabout CAD 1,900 a month, checked 2026-09-13

Set on 1 September 2025 for applicants outside Quebec, and raised each September in line with Statistics Canada's Low Income Cut Off. It covers living costs only, on top of tuition and travel.

Also accepted: Duolingo 120 overall with a minimum 105 in each component, PTE Academic 58, and TOEFL iBT 86 with 20 in each section for tests taken before 21 January 2026. Results must be under two years old. Twelve routes in total, including completing Tier 4 of Brandon's English for Academic Purposes programme.
